Windows system proxy cannot access the Internet after being turned on: recovery and repair steps

The most common reason is that the proxy client has exited, but Windows still sends traffic to the proxy port that no longer exists on the machine.

Before you start

First confirm that the basic network is normal, the account is valid, and update to the current stable version of the client. Subscription addresses are private credentials, please do not take screenshots to make them public or forward them to others.

Operation steps

  1. 01

    Reopen the original client

    Start the client you just used, close the system proxy within the application and exit normally.

  2. 02

    Check Windows proxy settings

    Open "Settings → Network and Internet → proxy" and turn off the manual proxy that is no longer in use. Do not modify administrator policies for devices managed by the organization.

  3. 03

    Exclude browser alone proxy

    Check whether the browser extension has independent proxy set and temporarily close the relevant extension.

  4. 04

    Clean up conflicting software

    Verify that no second proxy or VPN tool is simultaneously modifying system proxy.

  5. 05

    Reboot and verify

    Restart the browser; if it still doesn't work, restart the system, and then test the two states of not opening proxy and opening proxy.

After completion, check like this

  • Manual proxy is closed or the port is correct
  • The client is running normally
  • No conflicting extensions
  • The network is normal when proxy is not opened

FAQ

Do I need to run an online network reset command?

Usually not required. Restore system proxy first; unknown commands may modify DNS, Winsock or firewall, so use with caution.
